The following is a list of facts regarding the Capital City Kiwanis Club. Many of these operational aspects have been around since the early days of the club. Check back soon for a brief history of the Capital City Kiwanis Club.
bulletThe Capital City Kiwanis Club was founded in October 1954. Active member T. Bowen Hill was the club's first president and served two years.
bulletThe Club's membership averages 110 annually with approximately 60 attending each Monday meeting.
bulletThe Club has only one fund-raising project each year. The Blue-Gray Basketball Classic, held for many years at Sidney Lanier High School, is now held the week before Christmas at Jefferson Davis High School.
bulletProceeds from the Blue-Gray tournament (annually approximately $15,000) are distributed to organizations approved by the Major Emphasis Committee and the Board of Directors.
bulletThe club is governed by a board of eight directors and the club's elected officers. Seven directors are elected to staggered, two-year terms. The immediate past president also serves as a director. 
bulletOfficers include the president, two vice presidents, secretary and treasurer.
bulletThe president, first vice president and second vice president serve one-year terms. The treasurer and secretary may serve multiple, consecutive years.
bulletThe first vice president is president-elect, chairs the Blue-Gray project and directs meetings in the absence of the president. 
bulletThe second vice president is charged with the arranging weekly speaker programs and ascends to the first vice president position upon completion of the one-year term.
bulletDues are billed and paid quarterly or annually at the discretion of the member. Additionally, a 20 cents per years of age assessment is levied annually to fund the Scholarship Fund.
bulletThe club awards two $2,000 scholarships to deserving local high school seniors. They are the Smith-Poundstone Needs-based Scholarship and the Charles M. Read Merit Scholarship.
bulletThe Doc Burke Award is presented annually to the member giving outstanding service to the club.
bulletThe board meets monthly with one board member serving as host to a lunch or dinner meeting.
bulletThe Club sponsors a Circle K Club at Huntingdon College and a Key Club at St. James School.
bulletCapital City Kiwanis works closely with the Montgomery Boys and Girls Clubs on two annual projects, a bicycle rodeo and Kiwanis Olympics field day.
bulletYoung Children Priority One is the focus provided by Kiwanis International.
