William F. Joseph, Jr. Citizen of the Year AwardNominations being accepted for 2nd Annual William F. Joseph, Jr. Award

(July 25, 2005) - Nominations are now being accepted for the second William F. Joseph, Jr. Citizen of the Year Award. The award is presented by the Capital City Kiwanis Club in honor of former Montgomery County Commission Chairman William F. "Bill" Joseph, Jr.

Joseph, a past president and charter member of the 50-year-old Capital City Kiwanis Club (CCK), made a substantial impact on the Montgomery community during his 40 year tenure on the Montgomery County Commission. He was the recipient of the inaugural award in October 2004.

Criteria for the award include:

bulletA resident of Montgomery County or a resident of a neighboring community whose primary business or vocational activity takes place in Montgomery County.
bulletAn individual whose selfless service and/or contributions to the community are noteworthy.
bulletAn individual not employed and/or compensated by an organization or agency where the primary service for which they are nominated is performed or contributed.
bulletService activities for which the individual is nominated should impact Montgomery County service and/or non-profit agencies/organizations.
bulletNominated with summary of accomplishments by announced deadline.

Special Preferences: While the following are not criteria for eligibility or selection, they possibly will be given extra weight in the selection process.

bulletCommunity service benefiting area youth.
bulletContributions of resources benefiting area youth.
bulletCurrent of former members of Kiwanis International affiliate clubs and/or organizations (Kiwanis Civic Clubs, Circle K, Key Club, etc.).
bulletActivities having the broadest impact on the entire community.

Nominees' service may be in the areas of health and human services, religious activities, economic development, quality of life, public safety or other relevant activities having a broad direct or indirect impact on the community. Nominations must be in the form of a narrative. In addition to the service accomplishments, the narrative should include in the header information:

bulletNominee's Full Name
bulletNominee's Home or Business Address (whichever is in Montgomery County)
bulletOccupation/Employer
bulletNominating Individual or Organization
bulletDaytime Telephone and Email
bulletBusiness, Social or Familiar relationship to nominee
